Berkshire Recorder Consort

Based in the south east of England, the Berkshire Recorder Consort (BRC) was formed early in 1979. Our repertoire ranges from medieval to contemporary music and encompasses a wide range of musical styles and genres.

Our main instruments are recorders: garklein, sopranino, descant, treble, tenor, bass, great bass in C and contra bass in F. In addition, performances include a variety of contemporary and period instruments, including crumhorns, gemshorns, rebecs, smallpipes, medieval vielle, gittern, harps, virginal and voices.

All the members are amateur musicians who aim to perform to a high standard whilst enjoying being a member of a friendly group.

We rehearse every Monday evening during term time. Our venue in Easthampstead has a private car park; the nearest railway station is Bracknell.

If you would like to join us, you will need to own a set of the four main recorders: descant, treble, tenor, bass, all tuned to A440. You should be able to play and sight read confidently to at least grade 6 standard. Occasionally we hold open rehearsals for potential new members - there is no formal audition.

We perform throughout the year.
